PALMBERG had teamed up with the renowned agency VOSS + FISCHER from Frankfurt to design its trade fair stand. This also did not go unnoticed by the independent jury of the German Design Council. The PALMBERG exhibition stand is described as a poetic stroke of genius which, by combining 75,000 paper cups with a standard black wire mesh fence, developed a dynamic façade which served as an eye-catcher and provided a wow effect for the visitors.

The aim of PALMBERG was to differentiate itself from the competition, to inspire, to attract attention and to be remembered. With this objective in mind, the VOSS + FISCHER agency developed a trade fair stand that reflected urban life by incorporating everyday objects, picked up on street art elements, aroused curiosity and provided topics for discussion. Instead, the 1,400 m² stand area was framed with almost hall-high wooden frames covered with wire mesh fences. The wire was handcrafted with 75,000 white paper cups inserted. Lightness was created by the gaps that were repeatedly built in, which aroused the curiosity of visitors and provided an opportunity to take a look inside the stand. This was supported by targeted illumination of the exterior facade: white incident light made the cups sparkle almost like LED dots in the exterior effect. On the inside, however, this play of light was deliberately avoided: The colourful product presentations thus became the desired eye-catcher for visitors to the stand.

Embedded in the black and white colour concept of the architecture, the PALMBERG furniture set itself off rich in contrast against the background and also became a desired eye-catcher with the help of the respective headlight. Centrally located on the exhibition area was the hospitality area: the social meeting point of the exhibition stand. The central location ensured a close connection between visitor and exhibitor and created proximity. In addition, the slightly elevated position - like a viewing platform - offered an overview of the entire room. The paper cups, which surrounded the trade fair stand like a digital cloud in the shape of a pixel, were taken up in design by the use of round, white ceiling absorbers and provided pleasant acoustics in the hospitality area.

The "Best of Best", "Architects of the Year", "Interior Designers of the Year" and "Architects' Client of the Year" awards will be presented to the winners at the Expo Real trade fair in Munich on 7 October 2019.
