Always the customer in mind

PALMBERG celebrates its 25th company anniversary

25 years ago, immediately after the border had opened up, a new era was dawning in the new German states. After the political transition and long negotiations there was the commitment that Palmberg Möbel GmbH, until then being exclusively in the hands of the trust, would be released from its affiliation with the Schwerin furniture plant. Under the leadership of the Graduate Engineer Uwe Blaumann, today’s Managing Shareholder of Palmberg Büroeinrichtungen + Service GmbH, the corporate future was initiated by the production of office furniture at the beginning of 1991. The sales negotiations with the trust started in the same year, resulting in the privatization on 1st September 1991.

Palmberg – A location with tradition

The erection of the first furniture factory located ‘on the Palmberg’ by Hans Bockwoldt dates back to 1922. The plant was still producing veneered living-room furniture at that time. In 1951, it came under public ownership and switched its focus on the production of bedroom furniture in the seventies. Today, Palmberg is among the major companies of the German office furniture industry and successfully produces high quality office furniture for the European market. The company manufactures eight workplace systems, three extensive cabinet ranges and numerous special custom-made products on a production area of 25,000 square metres. The daily production amounts to about 700 tables, 300 containers, 800 cabinets and three reception facilities in one of Europe’s most modern office furniture factories. Every day up to 21 own company trucks leave the premises in Schönberg and deliver high quality products nationwide and to the neighbouring countries Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

At the official ceremony to celebrate “25 years Palmberg Büroeinrichtungen + Service GmbH” on Tuesday, 1st September 2015, along with greetings of the Minister President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Erwin Sellering, the Minister for Economics, Building and Tourism, Harry Glawe, Head of the District Authority of the District of Nordwestmecklenburg, Kerstin Weiss, and the Mayor of the City of Schönberg, Lutz Götze – Palmberg’s Managing Director, Uwe Blaumann, looked back to Palmberg’s development over the past 25 years whilst giving an outlook on the coming years.

“Today we are looking towards the future. We have achieved a great deal in the last 25 years and have strongly grown especially in recent years. We’d like to continue this successful path also in the coming years and present ourselves as an innovative enterprise. Thanks to our excellent competitiveness, our high standard of product technologies and our employees’ expertise, we are very well prepared for future tasks“.

PALMBERG – I’m looking forward to the office
